The Chrysalids

David Strorm lives in a post apocalypse world where genetic mutations are common and frequently malignant. He lives in fear that he will eventually develop one himself and be cast out from society to live alone on the barren heath beyond the town walls. When David meets Rosalind Morton he begins learning more about things outside his community than he has ever known before; eventually leading him towards meeting other people like himself living secretly away from prying eyes.

When David's father discovers an unusual plant growing near their home, it becomes clear that there may be more than just danger lurking within this new mutation. As David struggles with his own fears about what could happen if people discover his secret, he finds himself drawn into a web of intrigue which threatens not only him and everyone around him...but even all life on Earth itself!
